Went for a date with my o.h; get service from the offset! Provided me with the allergens book and talked me through the menu as to what could be adapted. Had a gf and df pizza which was really good and wasn't tiny in size like some other places. Will definitely go back. Dietary restrictions: Have an allergens book which you can read through and they will adapt as much of the menu as possible for you.

waited a long time for food to come out , the restaurant was uncomfortably cold because main doors were wide open , calamari was cold and over salted, pizza had barely any cheese on and the toilets weren’t very tidy

I went to Zizzi’s tonight expecting a lovely meal as I frequently go to the one in Newcastle which is always a good experience and I had far from a good experience at this Zizzi’s in York, the food took almost an hour to arrive even though the restaurant was not busy in the slightest, the double doors were wide open and everybody was sitting in their coats and jackets, we asked for the doors to be closed 3 times for them to close one door which then got opened about 5 minutes later again anyway. The food finally arrived, the calamari was cold and stale, it was way too salty that it burned my mouth and was inedible so we could not and did not eat this, the pizzas had very minimal cheese on and the chips were also way too salty. The toilets were so much warmer than the actual restaurant which was nice, however they were quite dirty. Overall service was slow and not a good experience, I wouldn’t recommend.

Waited 50 minutes for our food with the front doors wide open. I asked 3 times for them to be closed as it was uncomfortably cold. They closed one side only. Looking round at the other diners wearing coats with their hands in their pockets I wondered is this what dining out is all about? We were not offered condiments and the pizzas were okay but severly over priced. The kalamari was cold and so salty it was inedible and I refused to pay for it. All in all this was an extremely disappointing meal and dining experience.

Dietary restrictions: Positive experience, staff appeared to understand my allergy and they had a separate file/menu explaining what allergy ingredients were included in each meal which I found very helpful. Staff took time to listen so they understood what foods could be harmful and to pass this information to chef. I feel that even if the waitresses did not know much about coeliac and cross contamination, the fact they listened to me meant I felt reassured they were taking me seriously and trying to safely cater for me.
