Alfred was very well prepared and provided an inspiring and insightful picture of York focused on the evolution of people, cultures, politics, and religion in the area. He was able to build a storyline, backed up by on-site examples, all the way from the Roman, Anglo-Saxon, Norman, Viking, and British conflicts and influences to the fame of locally developed KitKat bars. We saw Victorian and Georgian architecture in the old city and learned how York was able to protect the old city and ancient wall from evolving community development interests. 90 min on the afternoon tour went by too quickly.

I went on this tour yesterday with some friends as part of a hen do. Everyone really enjoyed the tour with Alfred and found it very informative. The tour was the perfect length and went into very interesting history about the city. I would definitely recommend this tour if you are in York.

This tour was the best way to introduce us to York. I thought an hour would be too rushed/ not cover enough of the city but it was so perfect and kept everyone focused. The guide has such an incredible amount of knowledge on the city and was a very skilled guide. I have already recommend it to friends who are visiting next week. Also worth mentioning how great it was to be kept small in numbers, and that a walking tour is definitely needed as the tour buses can't enter the smaller very important streets
