From my father going into yorklea, in March to him passing away in the following November, we saw him 4 times, twice through a window, and twice as he was on End of life, we were stopped from seeing him the day before he passed as we were told he was improving, the morning he passed we were not contacted until after he had gone, as I have worked with people on End of Life there are visual signs the time was getting close, we were not called to be with him on his last hours, or 24hours before, due to Covid restrictions, that was the main focus keeping us away from him and the place, his room was a dingy small bedroom with no visual stimulation but a plain wall in front of him,it had spare mattresses and junk in there, like a store room, they put the radio on after he had passed, it was a bit late then, the only time I felt welcomed was when asked to Collect documentation for the next steps after death, I was greeted at the door with all his belongs stuck on a wheelchair next to the main door, the very next morning, our family may of been over bearing but put yourselves in our shoes, our loved one was dying and vulnerable with no one there to comfort him, it’s taken me 2 years to write this review, I was so denied every right to be with my dad, because of your rules, no compassion at all shown, I drive past that place now and again and say sorry to my father for being there, I wish I could of changed that. 9mths of his life spent in a small dull room with no stimulation, or compassion, he was just a body.
