The Black Rock is still a great boozer. I remember it from 30 years or so just serving Tetleys bitter and Mild, it was great back then. It's even better now, loads of different beers from small breweries. It is always welcoming. My wife Vivienne loves the Black Rock even though she's a Southerner. I think it's all the different Gins.
