Fantastic place. Was worried about staying in a hostel with a family, but it was wonderful. Be warned: There are 53 stairs to reach the reception desk, hallways are tiny, and you might share a bathroom. It's a hostel, not a hotel. Beds are spartan. I brought a camping blow-up sleeping pad and it helped a lot with the bed. It's not luxury. However, if you're looking for a bargain place to stay right in the middle of London, this is it. Near Covent Garden, Leicester Square, tons of restaurants outside the front door. Nice people. And it felt like a safe place to stay with two young teens. Only minor quibble: I'd like a door you can bolt from the inside, to keep anyone from getting a key and getting in. That might be an issue with all hostels, since the rooms are shared. I'd go back again any time except summer, since there's no A/C (they do have a big fan in the room.) Walkability: Perfect location in center of London.

Overall I was happy with my decision to go with YHA Oxford St. Just be alarmed that the elevator (or the lift :D) is out of service and the staircase is very narrow. So be prepared to climb lots of stairs just to get to the reception which is on the 3rd floor. Staff were friendly; they had to move us after the first night because of another group booking which was not fun, but they'd communicated it with us in advance. Rooms and restrooms were very clean, but I found the restrooms very tight as there was no room to move. I would recommend if you want to be close to Oxford and Regent streets which are very live at nights.

We booked a 4 people room, but two of us has issue with UK transit visa (the Government was overwhelmed due to high volume of visa processing and cannot send the visa to us before we left for UK). I requested to cancel the room one month before, YHA refused and didn't give any refund back. Rooms : 1/5 | Service : 1/5 | Location : 1/5 … More

The hostel is in the middle of the Tottenham Court Road and Oxford Circus underground stations and I think it's the best location for London visitors. Hosts were super friendly, especially at check-in and our room was a little "spartan" but clean. I absolutely recommend this hostel if you're visiting London, especially if you're young, the ambience is super friendly (and also LGBTQI+ friendly ;))

Perfect size hostel. If you can get the men's room on the first floor at the back right...comes with it's own private bathroom. Worth it for your own bathroom with 3 other people. Cozy vibe and even more central location. Rooms: One of the men's room comes with its own bathroom....snag that room and you'll feel like you're in a hotel.
