Called in for dinner on a May Saturday evening. Not particularly busy. Walked to the bar to ask if we could dine. Greeted (or rather not greeted) by one of the several ladies working in and around the establishment. First impressions were that they were all miserable. Vapid would be an accurate assessment of their general demeanor. We were shown to a table and some menus were plonked down next to us. We chose our meal and waited and waited to place our order. We went to the bar and spoke to the Managers who were both sat on the side of the bar with their laptops. The young lady came and took our order with a miserable attitude. I ordered a prawn cocktail starter which turned up without any bread. She plonked it down without any interaction with me whatsoever. Normally the server would ask "can I get you anything else?" Not this place. I had to ask the Managers who arranged it for me. The food was good if a little pricey, which you don't mind paying if you have the pleasant cheerful service to accompany your meal. It wasn't so busy that the staff didn't have the time to be courteous. Customers shouldn't have to feel privileged to be there either. At the end of the day the punters pay the wages. The hospitality sector is on its knees and fresh thinking is required by establishments to promote their offerings. Never has that been more evident than with this experience.

Very pleasant pub with good food. Very personable staff and landlord. Parking can be at a premium at busy times (don't forget the parking area opposite but that can fill up) so err on the side of early. Not sure if there's a garden but outside tables at front
