Yard & Coop; well what can i say.. If your familiar with the Caribbean like myself you will instantly start to notice the inconsistencies in the vibe of this place. Yard & Coop as a name conjures ideas of a Caribbean food restaurant that will play a nice mellow reggae music and have charming people who cook and serve the food. The reality is, the restaurant appropriates Caribbean cultural references in its design and feel but the way they do it is very inconsistent. An example of the inconsistencies is playing R'n'B music in the restaurant is all wrong for the vibe and its too loud which makes everyone else talk louder and you can't even hear the person on your own table without shouting. My opinion on the food, is thst it is ok but nothing to shout home about, the chicken was a bit greasy and lacked anything special about the flavour and the batter had no crunch to it, the chicken gravy has never seen a chicken in its life and is anything but home made and i would say I've had a better chicken and gravy at KFC. I just felt like this restaurant was trying to trick me in to thinking I have gone to an Caribbean restaurant which it is not.. This place is a gentrified Caribbean restaurant that has nothing Caribbean about it if you know what your looking at.
