We booked this 2 night get away through Secret Escapes for a wedding anniversary in May 23. The hotel grounds and appearance on arrival were breathtaking and Shavina the receptionist was particularly friendly helpful and smiley. The room and ensuite were lovely and worth the 4* it had been rated with a lovely bottle of Prosecco chilled and waiting in the room. The outside porch areas were beautiful and it was good to walk around the tranquility it offered. There was even a small church within the grounds literally a stones throw from the front of the hotel which was enchanting. There were plenty of sitting rooms inside tastefully laid out. The dinner and dessert which came as part of the package were exquisite and worthy of any Michelin rating in my opinion. Well done to the chefs. Breakfast was of an equal high quality as well. There were 2 lovely waiters for dinner and breakfast who I can’t remember their names but one wore glasses and had a lovely disposition and smile and the other had a beard both were really helpful. There are only 2 negative aspects to our stay. One was on the first night from about 10pm there was a lot of banging of doors underneath our room until gone midnight which we learnt the next day was on top of the kitchen area but Georgeo the duty manager was very accommodating for us to move rooms the next morning and he very helpfully facilitated this and we had a much quieter nights sleep unfortunately the Tap in the bathroom decided not to work later in the afternoon. Another negative was that the spa /swimming pool were not in operation which would have enhanced the stay hugely pls start your renovation it would boost the hotel no ends. Despite the very small negatives I would definitely come back to this hotel. Thank you.

We visited this stunning hotel for afternoon tea yesterday, it was definitely one of the best cream teas I’ve ever had .There were a LOVLEY selection of Sandwiches. The scones were fresh and warm, and there was a beautiful selection of freshly made sweets( brownies, white chocolate filled moose ect )…. Well done to Micael our waiter for being soo helpful and accommodating…. We will definitely be returning again .

Booked a leasure weekend through Secret Escape for 2 nights, amazing grounds and history, lots of potential for this amazing venue, however not the same standard as most of other SE breaks we have been to. Upon arrival we where told that somehow we only had the room for one night and would need to move for the second night, but they would let us know ASAP. Once in the room, there was no Prosecco as described on the deal, we had to ask for it. There was a lot of confusion over opening times of the restaurant so found it very difficult to book it, so went out somewhere else for dinner on the first night. After asking several times about the change of the room, we where told the morning after that we could stay in the same room. We had to wait 50 minutes for breakfast on the Sunday morning, as a wedding party was held the night before and all wedding guests arrived at once for breakfast, which meant the kitchen was overwhelmed with orders, which resulted in lots of guests complaining. It's obvious to me that there is a severe lack of leaderships amongst staff and severe lack of organisation. It's such a shame as the venue has immense potential in the right hands. Lots of work and effort needed by the management/owners to be worthy of a Luxury Hotel as advertised on Secret Escape. I wish the management/owners all the best but will not recommend it at present 😔 MS

Came for afternoon tea with a Wowcher. Was given plain bread as well as roasted pepper on a sandwich. I asked and was told this is for dietary requirements but wasn't asked if we had any (we don't). Was poor at best, service was average, no atmosphere. Wouldn't go back or pay £20 again let alone anymore. Grounds were lovely but badly organised and below par.
