I wanted to write a review to reflect what a wonderful experience l have had at Woodthorpe Hospital. From the beginning when l first saw Mr S Badhe my surgeon, to my knee replacement, my care has been exemplary. I arrived early on the morning of my operation, and was extremely nervous as l had never been an inpatient in a hospital before. From the off l felt cared for, and was given time and space to talk about my fears. Mr S Badhe came to see me and put me at my ease. I then met my anesthesiologist who again was so reassuring. I had a spinal block and sedation. The nurse was wonderful, and made sure l was ok during the op. Before l knew it l was in recovery, and then on my way back to my room. I had a very welcome cup of tea, and then a little later some toast and marmalade. The nurses who cared for me were brilliant, and very attentive. My care was the very best, and Mr Badhe and his team were wonderful. My pain was managed well, and l was very comfortable. My room was lovely, and the shower room spacious and well equipped. The food was incredible, especially the apple pie and custard. I will be returning for my second replacement, under the wonderful care of Mr S Badhe and his team in around 6 months time. The only downside to my stay was my discharge, which was rushed and unexpected. I thought l would be there for 3 full days, in fact l was only there for two days, being told early on the morning of the third day that l would be leaving. I felt as if was being turfed out, and was told to ring my husband to come and get me. He had planned to bring me home on the Wednesday morning, and had arranged things around that. When he arrived my case was being hastily packed, and my shoes mixed in with my clothes. He then took over the packing. My medication was brought, and instructions on how to use it quickly related. One which l queried, only to find out having looked at the box a couple of days later, that l had taken twice as much as l should have for two days. Would this rushed discharge have happened to a Private patient, or was it because l was NHS? I wanted to give Woodthorpe Hospital 4.5 out of 5. As that's not possible it's a 4, simply because my rushed discharge.

If you pick the phone up and try to phone Woodthorpe Hospital in Nottingham, then you’ll discover the problem: they don’t answer the phone; and they don’t return left messages on their answering system. They leave you with no help following a surgical procedure and leave you worried and not knowing what to do. I think you’d agree that this is very poor indeed for a health care provider.

A review hopefully read by the management as we don’t chose to visit - usually referred. Not enough parking and not enough seats in the waiting area, the biggest complaint is the noise . For goodness sake this is a hospital ! There is a TV blasting out in one of the waiting areas but it’s the staff ( and there are a lot of them )that are the noisiest , no quiet conversation just constant shouting . Because the staff shout , the waiting patients shout in conversation. Thanks for the Wi-Fi connection . A two hour wait for my wife was not a pleasant relaxing experience and I would recommend to others to not stay.
