Absolutely love this retirement community! The people are terrific. The residents are friendly and cheerful; the staff cannot be beat. Best of all, the scheme manager does such a great job - she makes Woodhey Court the perfect place to live. There's an assortment of activities and planned events (from coffee-mornings to bingo to luncheons to trips). The communal areas are clean and neat (the old photos of Sale framed throughout the public areas are a wonderful touch), the grounds are lovely with lots of plantings and flowers, and the sizeable lounge with comfortable furniture is a plus. I looked at a lot of independent-living communities before I chose Woodhey. It is well-kept, bright, and the management fees are not at all exorbitant compared to some of the ones I looked at. Having lived in a noisy new-build before I moved here I can really appreciate the solid nearly-soundproof structure. Everything - from the light fixtures in the hallways to the garden paths - is well-maintained. I am really pleased with all aspects here. Woodhey Court is located on a side street off the main road, so it has a quiet but convenient location, with the local chemist, some shops, and even salons in walking distance. There's a large park not far away that borders the canal - great place for longer walks. It might not suit everyone, especially people who are used to having their own houses and gardens, but for those who want the freedom to come and go and not worry about picking up the post or mowing grass it's ideal.

Expensive maintenance fee £125 pcm. landscape gardeners come and use noisy leaf blowers all year round with no respect for other residents of Alma Road, spray weedkiller, and use a noisy oversized lawnmower to cut the lawns. All this for a communal garden that no one uses.
