Arrogant, patronising and misogynistic… We used the Wanstead branch of Wiseman Lee. Although the conveyancing was eventually completed (hence the one star), the experience was terrible. We dealt with two people: 1. A receptionist who seemed to be programmed to rude. Her manner on the phone was blunt and she came across as extremely unhelpful each time we contacted the office. Considering that we would not have needed to call so often had the conveyancing been done professionally, with clarity and on time, the dealings with this lady rubbed added insult to injury. 2. The solicitor will be nameless due to me stating that he is a misogynist. Throughout our dealings with him, his attitude was always better towards me rather than my wife. This came across strongly in our final meeting and I nearly stopped him to make this clear, but thought better because - due to missed deadlines - I just wanted to get it all done. There was a period where he was repeating the same question to my wife over and over again, raising his voice, staring her straight in the eyes and jabbing his finger into the table. The question he was asking was pointless and he was only doing it to assert his authority over her in a creepy and arrogant manner. My best interjection was “Give us a break”, while I was really thinking ‘You speak to my wife like that one more time and I might both need a criminal defence solicitors after I’m done with you’. On top of this, his communication style at all times during the whole process was (again) arrogant and he had a total inability to speak plainly. The conclusion we reached is that he simply enjoyed trying to come across as more intelligent than anyone in the room, which he is it. The only reason he thinks he is so is because of his understanding of the whole process having done it so many times and he is then protected by the fact that people need him in these often emotional situations. I really hope that this is just a persona he puts on at work and he is a different person outside of it as it is hard to imagine how anyone could be truly happy if they are needing to act like him.

Ongoing problems / claim regarding my father's purchase of a flat. Non-disclosure of fire report. Had we seen the fire report we wouldn't have bought the property. We found out about the issue after we moved in. It had not been passed onto us by Wiseman Lee. Simply not sent. The ongoing fire report issues actually contributed to a sale of the property falling through when we came to sell the flat so it did have a knock on effect Very low level of reply from them once we complained. Tens of emails ignored. They preferred to call rather than reply in writing the one time they did respond, which says a lot. We never got a meaningful reply or compensation from them about this and no apology. Complete arrogance and ignorance. Literally we felt ignored I've never heard of a lawyer simply refusing to acknowledge a complaint. I guess they know the law better than us so they know what they can get away with. Still highly unusual experience to say the least as a customer. Edit: please do not be fooled by the stock response to this Google review from the company. If you look that is the same copy and paste reply to all their negative reviews. I can assure you they were not willing to engage. P.s. I am a small business owner. I do not usually publicly complain as this is people livelihoods. I usually complain directly so I don't lose them business and help them improve. But this was such a negative, stressful and frustrating experience that here it is for all to see. They had one job, help us the client with diligence when buying a flat so we can make the most informed decisions, they failed. Happy to take our money though. Not even a good will offer of a partial refund. I will now be escalating to the ombudsman to at least try and get the legal fee back.

Absolutely rubbish!! You have been warned - Do not use Wiseman Lee!! They take weeks if not months to reply to your emails and that’s only after chasing multiple times. My solicitor does not even take my calls, I have not spoken to my solicitor in months. Management don’t care either, they do not treat you with the respect you deserve as a client. Paul Wershof and Derek Inkpin are extremely rude, they do not know how to talk to clients without shouting them down, they say they’ll help but are aggressive and anything but helpful. They keep going on about their complaints service and to contact Jonathan Diamond but then don’t look into your complaints, brushing them off with excuse after excuse. Absolutely appalling service that has only added to the stress. I would have left zero stars, they are not even deserving of one. Do yourself a favour and stay clear!

Receptionist welcoming, but not greatly impressed by the service, arrived early, and told I could not see who my appointment was with, the person who then saw me kept me waiting, and I felt she really did not want to be there and the interview was a bit hurried, consequently I forgot a couple of things, I was promised the document probably by the following Monday, i.e. 7 days but waited 3 weeks. As I have had to pay half up front for the service I cannot afford to lose this money to go elsewhere, otherwise I would, a shame as this company was recommended but sorry I would not recommend them to anyone else. After posting this review 2 years ago I have had a comment from Wiseman Lee, but (isn't there always a but) same response to me as to everyone else, stock answer, I wouldn't touch them again if they were the last solicitors in the country
