Wine Origins Wine Notes Wine Origins products are invariably good quality and pleasant drinking. There is added pleasure in that the wines are from unappreciated regions and it’s always rewarding to try something different. Below are those wines I can most remember appreciating. RED Two exceptional Reds are these – but then they are among the most expensive! : 1. Van Ardi Syrah Reserve. Reaches Cote Rotie quality. Berry and truffle flavour with firm texture. Mouth-filling with notes of blackberry, mint and strong pepper. 2. Old Bridge Grand Reserve Noir. Tart, full-bodied and intense – approximates to the Merlot-heavy reds of the Bordelais right bank. Aromas of red and black fruits, with hints of cassis and spices Voskevaz Nuraz. Like a less intense Barbaresco but still with Nebbiolo- like power and tannic fullness. Attractively deep purple in hue and long-lasting aftertaste. Lamb and Pork suit it well Van Ardi Reserve Hakhtanak. . Reminds one of a Californian Zinfandel. Lots of vinous extract and acidity and enjoyable brambly fruit flavours and bouquet. Obelin Melnik. Ruby-coloured.Tannic notes initially but softens in the aftertaste. A food wine that is a great matching with strong meat dishes as oxtail. ROSE Voskevaz Areni Noir. Rose not my No.1 choice and need to pay for real quality. But this Armenian has a distinct oomph in taste and flavour. It’s an excellent match with poultry including darker meats such as Duck and Guinea Fowl. WHITE Voskevz Kangun. Light-bodied and crisp. Pleasing light pickle of carbon dioxide on the tongue. Good accompaniment to seafood. Voskevaz Voskepar. Intriguingly nervy medium-dry. Firm on the mouth and honey dew melon aroma. Perfect with white fish Jamie’s English Bacchus. Climate change can be beneficial – occasionally! Once an insipid cold-climate blend variety has now warmed into a sultana flavoured tasting. So deep and satisfying that it’s ideal as a Wine Bar offering. Nando Jakot Orange wines were unknown to almost all of us 10 years ago. Now it’s the most spectacularly successful of new entrant to wine racks. This speciality show why. Golden syrup in colour and richly satisfying in texture, it’s redolent of ripe pears and marshmallow.Superb with both rich-casseroles as a main course and fruit desserts. From Slovenia it is a product the historic Friulano grape which flourishes in neighbouring Italian Alpine regions. Hard to think of any Wine Origins wine that have not thought worth having. Not captivated, however, by the Borovitza Cuvee Rada. Aligote is a neutral low-premium varietal and its blending does not enhance the Rkatsiteli who’s fruitiness is absent. There’s a contrast with the Vlassides Grifos where the Cypriot Xynisteri complements the qualities of Sauvignon Blanc – almost as splendidly as Semillon does with Bordelais blends.

I purchased a box of 3 wines once and then returned to purchase another 5. They arrived on time as stated both times and all the wines were exceptional (and I say this given that I know I can be picky with my wines). I realise that only selected wines are added on their website. Truly exceptional wines.
