FAQ

What type of choir do you have and what is the style of music that is typically performed?

We have a mixed-voice choir, meaning we have both male and female singers. Our repertoire is diverse, ranging from classical and sacred music to contemporary and popular songs.

How often do you rehearse and perform, and what are the expectations for choir members?

We rehearse every Wednesday evening from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm during term time. We typically have three or four concerts per year, plus occasional other performances. We expect our members to attend rehearsals regularly, to learn their parts outside of rehearsals, and to attend all scheduled performances.

What is the cost to join the choir and are there any additional fees for performances or materials?

Our membership fees are currently £170 per year for full members and £85 per year for students and those on low incomes. There may be additional costs for music scores or concert attire, but we try to keep these to a minimum.

What is the process for auditioning and joining the choir, and what level of experience is required?

Prospective members are invited to attend a rehearsal or two to see if they enjoy the experience and to meet the choir and conductor. We do not require a formal audition, but we do ask that singers have some prior choral experience and the ability to read music. If you're interested in joining, please contact us to arrange a visit.

Can you provide references or examples of past performances, and what type of venues does the choir typically perform in?

We have a long history of successful performances, including collaborations with professional orchestras and soloists. Some of our recent performances include Handel's "Messiah" at St John's Smith Square and a concert of British choral music at St Martin-in-the-Fields. We perform in a variety of venues, from churches and concert halls to outdoor festivals and fundraisers. Please visit our website for more information and recordings of past performances.
