I have been to Whipps Cross University Hospital on two occasions , one when my wife gave birth , we actually had the baby at St Thomas Hospital in central London as we thought the service was better there , let me tell you we did the follow up at Whipps and both the facilities and staff were state of the art , specially the water birth section at Whipps it’s simply fantastic , with a bed for the dad to stay and super modern new rooms . The second occasion was when I sprained my ankle really bad and went to A and E , obviously there was a long wait which is never nice , but when it got to my turn the staff was super polite , explaining everything really well , Celine who was my A and E nurse went the extra mile to explain everything and always with a smile , everyone always has something to say , only when it’s a negative experience , let me tell you , I am a veterinary surgeon myself and understand health and medicine sector , Whipps cross its a fantastic hospital and the staff are fantastic as well , we all should be grateful to use such facilities and be looked after by this amazing staff ! thank you Whipps . My short stay in Poplar Ward was comfortable and any needs and concerns were addressed with professionalism and kindness despite the pressures and long hours they had to endure. would give zero stars if possible. Honestly the worst hospital, children A&E ever! Avoid at any cost. Come to the emergency with toddler with head cut open, concusion in need of stiches. That did not stop them from putting us in waiting room for hours, as it was less important than urin infection and dehydrated teenager that drank too much! Staff are extremely rude, unprofessional. Lack of knowledge, compassion, understanding. You can crawl in here cover in blood you still will be seated in waiting room for several hours. If you have any choice just go anywhere else!

No parking and no public transport to get there! It's a big complex with various clinics dotted around in a vast area. The worst is how do you get there, as there is not enough parking space for visitors, nor can you go there easily by public transport!

The receptionists in the A&E department are extremely rude and have no consideration for patient confidentiality when it comes to sensitive information. They also chew gum and listen to music in their headphones whilst taking your details down - highly unprofessional. It's a shame that the hospital has unpleasant, entitled toddlers for receptionists when the doctors and nurses who do the real heroic job are very kind and empathetic. They should take a tip or two from them and learn how to have an appropriate attitude for the job THEY chose. Nevertheless, I'm grateful for the doctors and nurses that helped treat me! :)
