The six day chair making course is full-on, hard work, and hugely enjoyable. Paul and his team work hard to ensure that everyone gets the most from the course - including going away at the end with a unique chair of your own making, based on tried and tested principles. From splitting raw logs to assembling your finished components, you are supported and encouraged all the way. Paul claims to have taught around 2,500 people to make a chair over the years. I can quite believe it. Every problem and occurrence seems to have been encountered before and is dealt with without fuss. The course is carefully planned and broken down into manageable steps, and the results are genuinely "your own work," steered and supported at every stage by experts in the field.

I made a beautiful chair in a week and I've never done anything like this before. The way the course is organised is superb and very clever. Every single person went home with a finished chair, no matter what their ability. Paul's teaching style is direct and honest because he wants you to do your best. I used a huge variety of tools and techniques and had an exhilarating week. It's a beautiful setting; knowledgeable staff; high-quality tools; efficiently organised and a huge amount of fun. Just the best week ever!
