This shingle beach is great for just sitting watch all the ships going in and out of Southampton docks. Bit like a trainspotters Paradies for ships, take your binoculars. The queen mary sailed through when I lived there. I grew up round the corner in upper weston lane and dad sailed racing dinghies (505's) at the sailing club just a bit further up the beach. Just sitting, being at the sea, listening to the shingle in the waves, perfect. If your looking for Mediterranean beach, this is not for you. I adore it myself. The pavilions were there even in the late 60s. A delight.
