FAQ

What is your experience and training in craniosacral therapy?

We are a team of qualified osteopaths who have undergone extensive training in craniosacral therapy. We have years of experience in providing this treatment to our patients with great success.

How does craniosacral therapy differ from other types of manual therapy?

Craniosacral therapy is a gentle, hands-on approach that focuses on the craniosacral system, which includes the brain and spinal cord. It differs from other types of manual therapy in that it uses a light touch and aims to release any tension or restrictions in the body's tissues and fluids, rather than manipulating the bones or joints.

Can craniosacral therapy be helpful for my specific condition or symptoms?

Craniosacral therapy can be helpful for a wide range of conditions and symptoms, including headaches, neck and back pain, stress and tension-related disorders, and many more. We will assess your individual needs and create a personalized treatment plan to address your specific condition or symptoms.

How many sessions will I need and what can I expect during a typical session?

The number of sessions you will need depends on your individual needs and condition. Typically, we recommend a series of 3-6 sessions to start, but this can vary. During a typical session, you will lie down fully clothed while we use a light touch to evaluate and release any restrictions in your body's tissues and fluids. You may feel deeply relaxed and may even fall asleep during the session.

What is your approach to integrating craniosacral therapy with other treatments or therapies I may be receiving?

We take a holistic approach to healthcare and believe in integrating different therapies to achieve the best possible outcomes for our patients. We will work with you to create a personalized treatment plan that may include other therapies in addition to craniosacral therapy, such as osteopathy, massage, or acupuncture. We will also communicate with any other healthcare professionals involved in your care to ensure a coordinated and effective approach.

I've been coming to Freedom for a couple of years after a referral from a family member. I am active, but injury-prone it seems. John is great in all senses. He immediately puts you at ease, he explains what's going on in an easy to understand and really friendly manner, he's physically strong enough to manipulate me safely (I'm nearly 15 stone) and most importantly he fixes problems! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend Freedom to anyone. If you're looking for someone to help, stop looking you've found the solution!

I have been seeing John for a number of years for various, recurring issues and he has been brilliant every time - from supporting me with back problems during pregnancy to helping with recurring hip pain. I couldn't recommend him enough and wouldn't go to see anyone else!

I first attended John Blachford's clinic when I moved to Dorset three years ago after 20 years of chronic back pain. Within a few appointments, John had me pain-free and three years later, I've had no reoccurrence of the regular acute episodes that kept me from daily work and life. He is a fantastic osteopath and a caring, deeply knowledgeable professional. I cannot recommend him highly enough, he is truly remarkable.

I cannot recommend John enough! I've had long-standing pain with my back for many years, over which time I've seen numerous physiotherapists. The physio offered temporary relief to the pain, however John has made a lasting difference. His expertise is exactly what I needed, I only wish I'd found him earlier!!

John Blachford of Freedom Osteopathy is a really good Osteopath, I have no problem in recommending him and his company. I have now consulted him on a number of occasions including a trapped nerve in my leg, for a whiplash injury following a car crash and just recently when my Achilles tendon flared up as a result of an old twisted ankle injury. On all occasions his course of therapy has worked really well. John is a very personable, chatty gent, easy to get on with and who will put you at ease if it is your first time. He has a good way of explaining what your problem is, in terms which are easy for us non-medical people to understand. His consulting room at Shelly Manor is clean, smart and seems well equipped for his work. I understand that he also works from another location in Poole. I would definitely recommend seeing him if you have any aches or pains that need sorting out. Although I found out about him through personal recommendation, I have since found out that the company I work for also sends people to his practice if they injure themselves at work. Another good recommendation!
