Tom was recommended to me by several sax playing friends who knew I was looking to buy a tenor. I arranged to go over and spent a very enjoyable couple of hours at his workshop, trying several great saxes that Tom had got ready for me, and eventually settled on a beautiful Yamaha Custom 82z at a very fair price. Tom was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, makes a great cup of tea, offered advice when I asked, but otherwise left me to get on with it and scare the neighbourhood cats! I am delighted with the sax and the whole buying process, and will definitely be going back to Tom for all my sax needs in the future. Also delighted with the after sales including free adjustments, plus a free first service in 12 months time. No hesitation in recommending Tom and West Yorkshire Woodwind 100%. Many thanks, Paul Rundle

I found Tom enormously helpful and willing to share his knowledge and considerable experience. I wanted to purchase an alto saxophone for my son but am not a musician and did not really know where to begin. Tom listened and then gave my son several to try so he could compare different instruments. The process did not feel rushed and we did not feel under pressure to purchase one. But we did and I am reassured that it represents good value and we now have access to further advice and expertise. I would highly recommend Tom to beginners like us, or to pros. He is a musician with technical know-how and not just a salesman.

Well, what can I say? From the moment I arrived, Tom was a true gent. I had my vintage sax to sell and was recommended West Yorkshire Woodwind. I took the 5 hour drive to Bradford and I can say that it was well worth the effort. Tom was personable, knowledgeable and approachable. It was like chatting to a friend. We ended up settling on a price and he even made me a cup of coffee after my long drive. From the look of his workshop and from what he said, I wouldn’t hesitate in taking my other saxes to him, whenever they need any work. He seems meticulous, with a wealth of knowledge and, having seen some of his work, I can safely say that the results of said work are first class. I was reluctant to part with my horn but was comforted by the knowledge that she would be well looked after and trusted that she would, eventually, find a good home. I have no doubt that I will be making the long drive again to have work done on my other saxophones. If you need to sell, buy or service your saxophone, then you certainly won’t go wrong getting in touch with Tom at West Yorkshire Woodwind. Huge thanks and appreciation, Tom 🙏🏼

After playing a professional horn for 10 or so years, I came to Tom looking for an alto that would take me further. Over the phone, Tom was really friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and open to me coming to try horns even if I didn’t walk away with one. I came in for a play-test the next week, and was offered a great range of altos to try, vintage and new, in a relaxed environment. In the past I’ve found certain competitors to be super condescending and unenthusiastic, but Tom creates a warm, non-judgemental atmosphere and his clear passion for his craft shines through. I found a dreamy 1936 SBA for a fair price and Tom was perfectly happy with me returning for some minor adjustments that he did free-of-charge. 10/10 experience, incredibly happy!
