I met with the company owner and paid upfront for West Yorkshire Accountancy Services to complete all my annual returns, VATs and wage slips for two of my businesses. A year down the line, I came to realise that they had only ever completed the wage slips but not my accounts or VATs, leaving me with hefty fines from HMRC. Everything they required from me had been sent to them including P&Ls, invoices etc.. In the end, they blamed another member of staff who was no longer with the company. When I spoke with the owner, explaining I wasn't happy with them and they've had a year to get my accounts done, the owner became very rude and abusive! Any professional company would understand the client's frustration, hold their hands up when they're in the wrong and offer a way to fix the situation, in the case it would have been a simple 'I'm sorry, we will prioritise your accounts and have them sorted this week'. Instead, the owner shouted down the phone and stated that they don't need my business. I contacted them by email requesting a refund, I was refunded a fraction of what I had paid even though they had only completed a fraction of the work! I should have at least received 90% back based on the work they'd completed. Would not recommend to anyone, CON ARTISTS! STAY AWAY! Edit: Turns out the owner is actually banned from being a director! Do your own research before employing them for your accounts.
