My son, daughter and I had the most wonderful experience yesterday on Ben Ledi, guided by Cal. From the point of booking with Sonja through to the day itself the communication was friendly and professional. Cal was just brilliant and thanks to him we got to the top and have been left with the most amazing memories. He was attentive and always ready to help with hands on support or advise. He even taught us a bit about map reading. Living with Parkinson’s it means a lot to me that professionals like West Coast Mountain Guides are willing to help me attain challenges like this. People like you make it happen for people like me and I’m very grateful. Thank you for a truly amazing day.

We did the In-Pin with the help of our guide, Jack, who was fantastic. We were definitely not in shape to accomplish this and underestimated the effort, but Jack got us through and brought us up a really cool route that was much more enjoyable than the slog straight up to the top. Booking and arranging with the guide company was fairly easy and the website has lots of tips to be successful on whatever route you choose.

WCMG really care about their clients and will go above and beyond to make sure you have a great time. They are in the mountains day-in day-out, have tons of experience, and they are reasonably priced. I wouldn't want anyone else guiding me up a mountain I think the 1:1 guiding is worth it to tailor your adventures and get more time learning from the guide.

The three of us went on a day hike in the Cuillins with Neil. Neil was very friendly and knowledgeable. Despite extremely windy conditions at times, we always felt safe. Amazing day out and would highly recommend West Coast Mountains!

Really enjoyed our first time up Ben Nevis with James 😊 he was very knowledgeable about the area, helped us with equipment and our heavy loads, and was great company up and down the mountain. It was near white-out at the summit but the clouds parted and we got some spectacular views. Thanks James, we appreciate it! 😊

Epic Winter Mountaineering and Crag Climbing Winter 2023: Over the past couple of weeks I’ve spent two brilliant days crag climbing in Torridon with Will Manners and four fantastic days winter mountaineering with Mike Mason, arranged by Sylvia and Dave who both were really helpful with arranging the bookings. As ice climbing was not possible in Torridon due to the mild weather, I spent a couple of days with Will learning the basics of building belays, placing runners and trad lead climbing (with the safety of being on a top rope) on the Ardheslaig crag. Will was a great teacher, I learnt so much and I am really happy to have climbed my first diff and v diff routes outdoors despite the wet rock and wearing heavy winter boots. On the first day I felt a bit nervous doing my first crag climbs. However, by the second day it felt amazing climbing the crux of the v diff route and, with the encouragement of Will, daring to put my trust in the boots on the wet rock when there were only very tiny holds for my hands. I really enjoyed all of the climbing that day! The following week, Mike and I did some brilliant mountaineering routes in Glencoe and on Ben Nevis, inc. Hourglass Gully, Tower Ridge, Aonach Eagach and No 2 Gully. Every single day was fantastic and as expected Mike was just as excellent guiding in winter as in summer, providing great company on the hills and true to form ensuring the weather was perfect! The highlights for me were; Tower Ridge, which was really exiting with some good challenges along the route and finishing the walkout watching the sunset, racing across the bogs in the dwindling light adding to the sense of adventure; No 2 Gully which was really stunning and so enjoyable as I felt I was starting to get the hang of seconding a bit more efficiently thanks to Mikes patient guidance over the previous days. On all the other days I had been very happy that Mike was leading, but as we were climbing Gully 2, for the first time I started feeling that I would definitely quite like to try leading properly, which was a really good feeling - Thanks to Mike for getting me to that point! As always I cannot recommend WCMG highly enough and this winter’s experience completely exceeded my expectations!!! The only shame with having all these epic days out was that my no 1 partner in all adventures in life was not able to join for more than one day due to being very ill… But we will definitely be back for more amazing WCMG adventures in the future :) Dream Cuillin Ridge Traverse Summer 2022: Earlier this week we did it - with the expert guidance of Dave Fowler we completed the Cuillin Ridge Traverse!!! The views, the scrambling, climbing and abseiling in such a spectacular location is mind blowing. A dream come true and a fantastic experience which I will always remember as two of the best days of my life. We had Dave booked for four days and were able to realise the ideal scenario of stashing our bivy gear and doing some rope practise on day one, resting on day two, then the traverse on days three and four in sublime conditions. Dave’s knowledge of the ridge is extensive, meaning that we were never short of water and the bivi was in just the perfect location when we were in need of a recharge and to enjoy the sunset over the outer Minch. With a calm and confident presence, as well as a number of good stories to share, Dave was the perfect guide to help realise our dream.
