The beach was lovely, and the cafe was amazing,but! The wooden path to the beach was filthy due to careless, slack, lazy dog owners that can't be bothered to clean up after their animals. Not pleasant!

A decent surf beach that's generally up around once a week outside of high summer, it works from mid-tide to high tide. It gains an extra 1/2 a foot around high and generally dies off towards low tide. It's hard to surf a small swell particularly during a big/spring high tide due to there being only a single peak working by the river. This leads to short rides that the locals are understandably not overly happy about sharing. If you play your cards right and are somewhat recognisable from month to month, you should get a few rides. If you aren't experienced then Shoreham or Witterings either side are better options (low - mid tides). The groyne adjacent to the river was just replaced (late April 2023) but it could do with another groyne or rock jetty 100 yards or so further down to create another sand bank. If it's a hard westerly windswell, it'll be cross onshore here, but cross-offshore on the main promenade in Littlehampton (east of the river) so better to surf there while the wind is still blowing -although this does depend on the sandbanks in any given season. If there's a groundswell pulse, the wind suddenly drops or it's a small windswell, surf at West Beach. Respect the locals, check the tides and enjoy!

It was deserted on 1st may - bank holiday. Otherwise the beach is good. But no shops around, limited parking,nits a secluded beach. East Beach should be preferred
