I live in Stanhope, which is a very pleasant little town. I personally feel that Wolsingham is the jewel of the dale. However, I think that Teesdale is superior in many ways.

Time spent in this beautiful and interesting valley is always rewarding. 25th July 20: circular walk from Wolsingham following the riverside footpath on the south side until we reached the Fine Burn and climbed south to regain the Weardale Way easterly for the round trip. Often referred to as the "The Elephant Walk", named after the clump of trees always visible on the horizon and which, due to the ravages of the weather, no longer can be identified with that animal. Lovely day, lovely views.
