What a beautiful place this was! We had a lovely weekend with the family here. The lake is so close in 2 minute walking distance from your camper! If you don’t have equipment you can rent it and they have food and a little shop full of local ingredients! Overall very happy with our experience!

We stayed on a premium lakeside pitch that cost around £130 for 2 nights. You can’t argue the fact that the location is idyllic right next to the lake, which is exactly why we chose that site. We were unfortunately put on Pitch 1 which was a) right next to the children’s park (we have no kids) and b) right across the from the café. So it was very busy most of the day and night. The pitch looked like it was hosting a lot of group paddle board classes, which all look well controlled by the wardens, and good to watch; but it did mean that it was very noisy/busy all day. As we were placed right next to the children’s park, we were in direct ear shot of the family that decided to take their kids to play shortly before 6am on Saturday morning. I appreciate this is a reflection on the family ignoring the signs and not the site, but when I asked the site if we could move they basically just said tough we are full and they’ve send a warden round when they start. The toilets were clean despite it being such a busy weekend. We would maybe return, but we would specifically ask for a pitch 7 or higher as these are further up from the hustle and bustle of the heart of the site. On this occasion, for the price we paid Vs how busy/noisy it was, I have come away a little disappointed - but this is down to the unlucky pitch we got. Nearby activities: The water sports hut was great - the staff were a great laugh and we would defo visit them again.

Not ideal if you want a little peace and relaxed atmosphere. Great for families but not for couples. Lots of dogs and dog pooh. Not good when kids are at play. Rock hard ground so metal pegs are a must. Very over priced for what you get. Tent with no EHU is best option as you can pick your pitch. Been going there for years but it's no longer a friendly calm farmers site. Credit to them for expanding but it's lost its character. Food stand staff stroppy and food over priced.

The last day of our visit the farmers dog which was roaming around the campsite approached me and my puppy whilst walking (on a lead) and was growling. It then went to another tent and attacked a golden cocker spaniel savagely. This dog was tied up on a stake, laid down and was not doing anything to provoke this. I shouted at the dog and ran towards it and it let go of the spaniel and ran off. The owner of the other dog had come out of his tent at this point and attended to his dog. The dog was distressed and was bleeding from its nose and mouth. I told the owner to report it to reception when he was leaving. This incident greatly upset me so I reported it to reception as it wasn’t pleasant to see and I was concerned for other dogs and children. The lady in the shop told me to report it to her boss, the farmer who was sat outside having a drink chatting with another male. I informed the farmer what has happened and he didn’t seem concerned or bothered and stated it wasn’t his dog. The dog was laid on the floor beside him and I pointed at it and said it was and told him again what it had done. The farmer did not seem remotely bothered at all. This wasn’t a pleasant experience and I found the whole incident upsetting and distressing but the attitude of the farmer was unbelievable. I don’t want this to happen to anyone else so am writing this review to prevent a further incident. Just be mindful of this when visiting the site and be extra cautious and vigilant. The dog is a large type collie breed.
