Grade II Listed early example of a dedicated local municipal building completed in 1865 in the fanciful “Italianate” style. Repurposed for various civic functions over the years and currently being restored. A standout and integral element in the recently rehabilitated and landscaped “Walworth Square” precinct, forming a perimeter of the Elephant & Castle regeneration scheme. An immense improvement underway here; the previous fractious and febrile tone and tempo vastly improved.
