They need to sort their website out. We found what looked to be a great spot to have a breakfast, with site giving all prices and saying that walk-ins are welcome… well, they definitely are not for breakfast. We were greeted by someone at the desk who just seemed determined to hurry us along as soon as we said we are not currently guests. They did check with the chef, but this was a ‘No’ as well. “Come back at 10”. It was 9am. It looks very nice inside and the setting is lovely, hence 2 stars.

Our stay at Wallwick hall was a delight from start to finish. The surroundings and furnishings are splendid. We were fortunate to be attended to by Debbie who has a delightful demeanour and performed her role faultlessly. I was impressed how well maintained the fixtures and fittings were. We had a three course Sunday lunch, packed full of flavour and presented with pride. Our room for the night was the Hare room with a lovely view over the lawn. Breakfast again was excellent with the best black pudding I’ve tasted. All in all a brilliant stay. We found every member of staff to be warm and friendly. Best hotel I can remember. Many thanks Rooms: Wonderful bedding and very comfortable.

What an incredible stay!! Absolutely everything was perfect. First rate service, amazing room, fantastic spa treatments, excellent food, stunning views, wonderful grounds beautifully renovated and lovely atmosphere. Best of all: 6 course tasting menu - best food we’ve eaten in years. Very close to Hadrian’s wall and many historic sites - the nearby museum at Vindolanda was very impressive. Thank you so much for looking after us so well for our stay, we’ll certainly be back. As highly recommended as we can!

Stayed for the weekend, hotel is really lovely, cannot fault it. The decor downstairs is very stylish, the staff are all very friendly, food was excellent, the spa / pool overlooking the garden / countryside nicely done in a very modern building which contrasts with the old stone building of the hotel. Bedrooms are currently being updated, but we stayed in “old” room, but everything was really nice - super comfy bed, smooth top quality bedding, nice tea set in the room, lovely big fluffy white towels, good shower. Photos on the web don’t do it justice. I could go on but this is one of the nicest hotels I’ve stayed at anywhere. It’s only 10 bedrooms which means you get personal service. Can’t recommend highly enough. Try a complimentary cocktail at the bar !
