They also have superb Customer Service and aftercare, their Wallbank Eyecare is excellent value for money. My daughter and I went for our first eye test today - what a vastly different experience to any I’ve had before! Extensive tests showed up something that had never been picked up before for my daughter and advice was given on how to manage this. The scan showed the retina and a full explanation was given about the health of our eyes. Have signed up to the very reasonably priced plan which means we can return for tests whenever we feel a need to! Fantastic service - no new glasses required just now but the range was fantastic!

I was having lots of problems with my eyes and High Street opticians, whom I had visited regularly for many years, appeared not to recognise that there was an underlying issue. Most of us use the chain opticians as we think it is cheaper, but after paying for three or four pairs of glasses in a six month period, I decided I had to try someone new. Wallbank take time and listen to you. It was not easy to identify the issue, but they did not give up and just keep prescribing. The senior optician decided I needed to see a specialist. As a result I ended up having major surgery to reposition a lens placed in one of my eyes for a cataract issue many years before. It had become detached and was moving so that every time I had an eye test it was in a different place and the result was a different reading. Private opticians are by no means cheap, but finding Wallbank certainly ultimately saved me a great deal of expense. Ms Twinkle Patel runs a real community service and I particularly like the fact that Wallbank contributes to local charities. I cannot speak highly enough of her and her delightful team.

Although I recently moved to varifocals, my day-to-day need is close computer work and reading. Although the varifocals worked, there's a lot of head tilting and repositioning to make them work. Twinkle suggested I consider a second pair of occupational varifocals, and they are just brilliant. They've made a huge difference to the way I sit, my ability to read across two screens, and even to reading in bed. I can't be happier. I also had the most comprehensive eye exam I've ever had – and the best explanation to date of my eye health. I know I've got an issue with my eyes that will become more serious in time and it's not something a shorter eye exam would even have picked up. Well worth the time and effort. The wonderful friendly staff were great too, and the assistance in choosing new frames couldn't have been made easier. Walbanks is now a private practice, and although this isn't for everyone, I feel the level of care and attention at the eye exam (this alone justifies it), the helpfulness of the staff, and the excellent choice of frames, makes it a no-brainer to put your eye health in their hands. I've signed up to the monthly plan, which I think is very reasonable. A first class local business.

Absolutely lovely team. Couldn't have been more helpful! Haven't had an eye test in over a decade so wasn't looking forward to it. They made the whole experience a pleasure and I felt in safe hands. Even better, they didn't sell me something I didn't need, unlike my last appointment with a well known brand.
