Terrible experience with this shop. did not manage to repair my XR2 unit and actually made things worst as the unit doesn't turn on anymore. Owner was insisting that the damage was done before I brought my unit to them. totally unprofessional, if you cannot do the repair, just don't take the job.

Not a great experience, which is a shame because I like these kind of shops. Short version: turntable had several new problems after servicing although they did an ok job on the original problem, guy was pretty rude, paid more than original quote, had to come back like 4 times to fix problems probably caused by them rushing. Longer version: Dropped off my turntable for servicing because motor wasn't starting, and then the owner (or the main guy) called me and told me I had to come back to leave a deposit before they started work (fair enough, but should have mentioned that when I dropped off). He quoted me 50, which was very fair, and said if they needed to do other stuff he'd call me and let me know. 3 or 4 days later (to their credit they did the work quickly, and got the motor running) it was done, but price was now 85 and they had replaced a bunch of belts which we hadn't discussed. The plinth also had a big scratch on the front, and when I told the guy he sort of denied it then said half-sorry. When I played a record at home the motor was running 15% too fast (e.g. really fast) and when I called the store the guy basically told me to get stuffed, then eventually agreed to fix it because it was obviously because of the belt replacement it didn't need. He fixed it, but it was still clearly a bit fast (like maybe 2-3%), but he was as tired of me as I was of him, so I just dealt with it myself. 2 weeks later it started having a ground wire buzzing problem, which I again fixed myself. Basically, it was kind of a pain in the butt to deal with this place, they clearly didn't test and ended up creating a bunch of new problems. He just always seemed in a rush and willing to do a bad job, but also wasted a ton of my time. If you really care about your equipment or your time, go somewhere else.

I went there to see if they would be able to repair an old cassette recorder I have from the 90's. The place is full of vintage audio equipment, many of which I recognised from my youth. The staff were helpful and really knowledgeable. I can't wait to go back.

Do wonder if they're still in business? Can't ever get a hold of them over the phone, and last time I visited around 13:00 they were closed.

Really good, friendly, and honest service at a great price! Did a great thorough job on the repair, and responded well to my initial emails. Will definitely be coming back if anything else breaks.

Friendly service, an Aladdin's cave of hi-fi items and memorabilia. These shops are dying out in London so call in and have a look! Otherwise, whatever you need, always consider giving Bell street "a bell", so to speak and you will not be disappointed.
