Viela is the hidden gem in the heart of the jewellery quarter. We wandered down into the jewellery quarter to see a different slice of Birmingham as we heard the architecture is interesting in that area and we stumbled across Viela quite by chance. We needed to rest up and get some small bites and we decided to give it a go. And we were so glad we did! The bright and welcoming cafe space has a dance studio attached which is down a couple of steps and through a narrow doorway. When we were there, a capoeira dance session was in full swing with live music which provided the soundtrack to our visit. Our food and drink arrived sporadically but we were in no rush and the food was absolutely worth the wait. We had a range of small bites and each dish we ordered was freshly prepared and utterly delicious. The staff were really lovely and welcoming too and I can’t recommend it enough. Wonderful food and experience. Vegetarian options: Lots of great choice for vegetarians and some vegan dishes.

Vegetarian options: Gluten free. Kid-friendliness: Just a lovely eatery with a dance studio to the rear of the cafe. Dietary restrictions: Most food choices are gluten free, thanks to the tapioca flour. When mixed with spinach makes green crepes.

Hidden brazilian gem in the Jewellery Quarters. I had tried three items so far, but really I should be trying all of them. The pao de queijo is soo good! Really crisp on the outside. Soft, chewy, and cheesy inside. The Acai smoothie - refreshing and delicious! The tapioca crepes with sausages had a generous serving of sausage inside. No offense to the french but this is probably the best savory crepe there is (also available in other flavors).
