Now is the time for a more comprehensive review. Being open for 50 years this is officially the oldest aquatic retail outlet in the country!. This business changed hands several years ago and has improved in leaps and bounds almost doubling in size in the process. So what can you expect to find? Generally a good selection of healthy marine, fresh water tropical and cold water fish at competitive prices kept in well equipped and maintained aquariums. The stars of the show at moment are a very good range of German bred discus fish (Stendker) which are real quality. The marine section has recently been refurbished and whilst not large it is impressive in terms of both layout and the selection of equipment used. They have a good selection of fish and invertebrates at moment and what they have are healthy. What they also have in abundance are an excellent selection of corals in stock. They also have a small out door pond area ( this is closed at the moment seasonal). They recently created a new section which is dedicated to freshwater Shrimps,inverts and Plecostomas species. The stock of aquariums and equipment is impressive for a small outlet ,a well stocked range to suit both requirements and budget. The stock and range of dry goods is also good they have most things required to keep your wet pets well and healthy wether that be a humble goldfish or an expensive marine fish. They have a good choice of live food, frozen food and live plants as well,they have live brine shrimp, daphnia,tubifex blood worm and sometimes copepods usually for sale. Also a good choice of aquarium decor both natural and artificial. I have also found the proprietors very friendly and happy to help offering good advice to their customers. So if you keep fish or would like too well worth a visit. I forgot to mention that their open 7 days a week handy if you've got a busy lifestyle. Also sells good quality R.O.water and marine salts. They have recently gained a 5***** rating for a pet shop from the local council. 👍 Update January 2020. A short review of some of the new things introduced here, firstly they have introduced a customer loyalty scheme which offers discounts to its members, this has it's own web pages which advertise new arrivals and special offers, it's forum in style allowing members to post photos and videos of their own set ups and ask for advice from other members.👍 They also offer an interest free credit scheme for larger purchases, and lastly they have recently made a small expansion of their marine section for invertebrates and other small species of marine animals. Update April 2020. Still open as usual during the coronavirus lockdown, social distancing measures are in place, only 1 customer allowed entry at any time, for food, equipment and dry goods, no in store browsing allowed at the moment, they are also offering a free delivery service at the present time. 👍 Update November 2020. The shop is now fully open and has been for sometime, some improvements have been made during the summer which include a new larger pond outside and the addition of a new monster aquarium inside also a new Plecostomus section. They have also have started posting videos on YouTube and Facebook, some are promotional, some instructive,informative and entertaining. 😊 Update March 2023. They have a good selection of pond fish and cold water fancy goldfish at the moment. 😊
