Worst company I've ever worked for hands down. Clear disregard for staff . Most people would do a day or two and then leave, chronically understaffed and poorly managed work environment. Overbooked & understaffed, witnessed management docking pay by 45mins. For instance you started at 8:15, managers would in some instances write you started at 9:00am after you wrote down the time you started. Basic safety equipment for staff would not be replaced and staff on a number occasions were instructed to use either broken equipment or to push barrels across a distance of approximately 50m. Frequent abuse from entitled customers was accepted and company policy would be broken in order to keep customers happy. Customers would be drunk, make a complaint that the bar tender refused to serve them, management would then moan at staff for enforcing MAG & escape lounge policy. Staff would be told off for following the work place policy in some instances. A lot of new starts received minimal and irrelevant training, most new staff members walked around clueless and would leave within the week. Staff had to train new employees on how to do the job most of the time. Poor, poor environment to work in, management would gloat and boast about being able to ban customers from being able to fly or use MAG airport services, although I can't verify if this has ever happened this is what they often boasted about. The few staff who were retained regularly spoke about wanting to leave. Staff who couldn't work certain hours or days were vilified for not wanting to work despite being on 0 hour contracts. Management would expect you to bend over backwards to work in such a poor environment. Staff members would be hired without informing them that they would only be needed for a number of weeks. They wasted a lot of peoples time, in the time I worked there and this is reflected in the poor staff retention. The escape lounge is easily the worst run organisation I've ever laid my eyes on and this is reflected in customer reviews. Staff complained often about back, hand and arm pain due to the placement of some of the equipment, although highlighted no risk assessment was ever conducted in the time I worked there. The organisation deserves to continue to struggle to find staff. Poorly organised 'organisation'. Fortunately for some of us we have left and gone to significantly better paying organisations & fields, that value staff safety. Without the hard working staff keeping that place together there wouldn't be an escape lounge. Staff had no real incentive to work any harder as agency staff are paid less, don't get sick pay or any of the benefits of employment but were expected to behave like employed staff. Verve system didn't work well for many of us and we would be given nonsensical notifications for airports they didn't work in and new staff members depended on other employees to show them the ropes so to speak. No consistency of hours, one week you do a lot the other not much at all. Management are always ringing asking for you to come in because they can't retain enough staff to run the lounge. Not to mention and 20 min break after 8-10 hour shifts, management would plead staff to stay longer because they're chronically understaffed. On a positive note the staff and some of the team leaders were great and ensured staff would leave on time. Many of the team leaders were understanding. Serious change needs to happen in this organisation and the Escape lounge should have a serious review and consult staff on what changes need to be made to retain staff. The escape lounge is significantly worse than it was a number of years ago. Lastly new starts have to wait for passes once employed which could mean while your airport pass is being processed you could be out of work for a number of weeks, non of this was mentioned to the staff members I spoke to.
