This is one of the best museums I have visited. It speaks honestly about the jute industry and this makes it highly contemporary and a tribute to the people who worked there as well as to the city of Dundee. I really liked the focus on the contribution of women and the exploitation of Empire and Colonialism. Really brave. The curation, objects, films and storytelling talk of peoples, places and the harsh realities of 19thC industrialisation and the severity of business competition in the 20thC. You cannot cease to be amazed by the narrative, objects and sheer determination of everyone in this industry. The cafe is great too - and the staff are exceptional. You will not regret a visit here. Indeed, you are likely to return endlessly.

Great museum with knowlegible staff. Lots of working machines and a particularly good section on social aspects related to the jute trade in Dundee. I also had an excellent sandwich and salad.
