Purchased a Transit 350 mwb August 2021. Was told it had a reconditioned engine that Van Base had installed before purchasing. 18months, 32k miles later engine seizes. Crank bearing had failed even with oil services at every 10k. Also it has came to light that who ever installed the injectors, they did not use injector grease so all injectors were seized in place with no luck using a hydraulic puller. So an additional £800 plus vat for new injectors were needed!! I asked for an answer to my question on why the fitter did not use injector grease. No answer has been given!!

Sold me a van with 3 faulty injectors, they told me it was covered under warranty so to take it to a garage. The garage cannot repair it for weeks so I attempted to return the van but was told as I’ve started a warranty claim somehow this prevents me from returning it. The warranty company have disputed this. My last call to them resulted in them hanging up and they no longer take my calls. I’ve paid 18k for a van that doesn’t work and won’t be on the road for weeks, I’m losing business and may have to let staff go. They may be cheaper than other garages but there’s clearly a reason for it

I may have been unfortunate when purchasing a new van due to mechanical faults. That being said there are some major issues with the way in which van-base run their operation. I drove away from van-base bristol Avonmouth and immediately an engine management light came on and sensors warning me of issues with lights and a failed handbrake became apparent. Vanbase claim to take each vehicle through multi point checks before realising them simply not true. After a complaint to the non existent after sales team the vehicle was taken by van base for the 2nd time a month later told van wasn’t repairable. Being a small business and going without a van for a month and having no or very little contact with anyone from van-base unless chased endlessly is so frustrating. Eventually i was given a replacement vehicle and Jamie the manager was fairly proactive. Vanbase please actually check your vehicles before selling them to the public and employ an after sales team to deal with customer issues.
