I studied my A-Levels at UTC Sheffield straight after finishing secondary school. It straightened me out from being a class clown who didn't care about school or succeeding, into a young engineer that an employer could work with and develop. If you're willing to put the hard work in, it's well worth it. The mix of hands on modules and theory make you a ripe picking for potential employers for apprenticeships/degree apprenticeships. 3 years after finishing UTC I am now a Trainee Project Engineer in a division of my sponsor company, I have had the pleasure of working with and being mentored by all levels seniority in my company, from the machine operators who have decades of invaluable industry experience to the management team who give you an insight into the entire business.

If you want to get into engineering and your smart it’s a good college but I went for the first 6 months hated it and got an apprenticeship at amrc because the first year is all classroom work and the second year is just hands on but if you arent book smart but just makes the grades to get in it won’t be a good place because the teachers couldn’t give a toss how you do
