What type of choir do you have and what is the style of music that is typically performed?
We have a mixed choir, which means that both male and female voices are welcome. We typically perform classical choral music from a range of periods, including Renaissance, Baroque, Romantic, and contemporary works. Our repertoire includes religious and secular pieces, and we strive for a high standard of musicianship and expression in all our performances.How often do you rehearse and perform, and what are the expectations for choir members?
We rehearse once a week on Tuesday evenings from 7:30-9:30pm during our regular season, which runs from September to June. We also have additional rehearsals leading up to performances. We typically perform three main concerts per year, as well as occasional community events and collaborations with other choirs. We expect choir members to attend rehearsals regularly, come prepared and on time, and commit to learning and improving their vocal skills.What is the cost to join the choir and are there any additional fees for performances or materials?
The cost to join the choir is £60 per season, which covers the cost of sheet music, rehearsal space, and other administrative expenses. There are no additional fees for performances, although choir members may be asked to provide their own concert attire.What is the process for auditioning and joining the choir, and what level of experience is required?
Prospective members are invited to attend a few rehearsals to get a sense of the choir and our repertoire. We do not require auditions, but we do ask that members have some prior choral singing experience and the ability to read music.
