Con artists. We purchased what we believed was the most expensive underlay, as we wanted to ensure the insulation and life span of the carpet was maximised. Upon delivery, the installer was extremely stressed out and complaining about his management at the store, he didn't have an assistant either so the new carpet was dragged across the driveway after he finally managed to pull it out of the van due to it getting stuck, squahed between the headrest and van ceiling. Then, upon installation, once the discarded offcuts and bags of underlay were left in the hallway, we realised they'd given us their worst performing / cheapest underlay. When I rang the store, they initially said that's impossible, until I explained the packaging was left in my hallway and the brand name is clear to see. They then said someone else is probably benefitting from the more "superior" underlay by mistake. They said they would need to rip the carpet backup, which could cause damage / not go down the same way a second time or make do. Obviously, we didn't want to risk damage but they were extremely unhelpful and the fitter was very unprofessional. I will definitely not be using this crowd of fraudsters again. What's concerning is wondering how many times they get away with selling the more expensive product when in store but then installing their cheapest version, without clients ever knowing. We were just lucky they left all their waste material and rubbish behind as we'd have never known otherwise. Not that's its done much good either way.
