One of the stylists told me that 'I have a lot of hair' when I arrived late at my appointment. Hence, she rescheduled it. While the comment was probably made without the intention of being racist, as a mixed-heritage (African/Asian) woman of colour, it did come across as racist. I would expect the stylists working at a curly-hair hairdresser to not be intimidated by curly hair and be prepared to deal with a variety of different curls, including afro hair, and to avoid making comments like that one, as it can trigger a sense of shame and inadequacy in the client. This is especially true for African-heritage clientele, that are often told their whole life that their hair is 'too much'. In the end, I requested a refund, as the stylist told me she had rescheduled the appointment to the following week, when actually it had been scheduled to two weeks later, which I found out when I came back thinking I would get my hair cut but didn't.

Gone to Unruly to see Steve a few times and absolutely love him. Firstly, he is a really lovely person and is very upbeat, friendly, informative and lets you feel at ease. Secondly, he is great at what he does - consistently gives a great haircut that grows nicely into itself and he listens to your wants (I have always had problems with this in the past and think trust with this is always hard to come by when you grow up without anyone knowing what to do with your hair). I feel really grateful to have found him and just hope he could always be there forever lol. Thanks always. For Unruly in general - nice vibe and friendly people who seem to be genuine friends with each other. They really do cut curly hair well (which every general salon says they can - but they cant sorry) as everybody looks great Oh and random but I like the lighting Service: Hairstyling

Really pleased! I came here initially a couple of years back to get a curly fringe for the first time and was very happy with that. Second time post lockdown (a few weeks ago) I had a problem with the cut that I could see when it had settled, but I was quickly booked in for an appointment with one of their directors Anthony who reworked it perfectly.
