During revision for exams, I managed to strain both my eyes from staring at my laptop’s screen. I experienced throbbing pain and couldn’t study along with sleepless nights. I had to go back home and book an emergency appointment with my local Specsavers. I was prescribed with long sightedness. The glasses were said to take around 2 weeks to arrive, which was past the date for one of the computer exams I had to do. This made me stress, but through contacting Specsavers I was able to fast-track my order and it was ready to collect within a week. I was back at Portsmouth so I asked my mum to post it first class to my accommodation. I received a tracking notification with a picture and signature from one of the staff members (Nick). I went to reception to ask if my parcel was available to collect, and was told that the parcel was not there. I was very distressed as I had a 2 hour computer exam the following morning at 9am. I then called my mum who posted it and told her of the situation which stressed her out aswell. I struggled so much to complete the exam without my glasses and don’t think I performed well without them which made me feel so down. I then went the following day to ask again. The staff members present were Imogen and Molly who were both part of the student experience team. To begin with they were very laid-back even after explaining how bad I was feeling. This made me lose hope and feel even worse. At the start they didn’t even bother to stand up to look for my parcel, instead they “wheeled” themself on the chair to look for it. They talking with a tone that was rude and as if they didn’t care. Imogen then stormed to the back part of the reception office mumbling “I am done”. This made me very angry and question “why do unite students employ people that simply do not care about student experiences?”. I was very angry and began to shout, which then made them put more effort in trying to find the parcel. More staff members came and they still couldn’t find the parcel. Tom helped the most at this point. I was advised to talk to royalmail, but with the picture confirming delivery along with staff signature, I couldn’t do much. Nick called me as I was walking into an exam and said how he’s going to be at his annual leaveI, which was not very helpful and stressed me more for the exam. saw Aivars (the best receptionist), who I personally have a good relationship with, and explained the situation. He walked into the back area of the reception and walks out after 1minute with my parcel. This not only shows how terrible some of the staff members are at Unite Students (Greetham street) but also how unsupportive they can be. Aivars was so professional and kind and I would highly recommend Unite Students employing staff members like him. I am ver angry at this and want an apology from the staff members who were not only unprofessional but caused me a lot of stress during exam times. I totally blame Unite Students if I have underperformed in one of my exams. Aivars is the best staff member I have ever come across and once again, Unite students must employ more people like that to better student experience. I hope he is given appraisal for his amazing work! 5 stars for Aivars service and 0 stars for the other staff members mentioned above excluding Tom (I’ve only put one star because zero wasn’t an option)

Nice rooms and kitchens but over priced with a massive design flaw. Fire doors between flats are not alarmed and annoying students can just Waltz through into your flat. In our case they stole stuff from the kitchen. I know our case isn't the only one of this happening either. So if you want to feel safe this is NOT the place. Staff couldn't really do much apart from shut the door again. They have the same issue in Chaucer house and I assume this extends to other unite student properties since they are copy and paste designs. All you need to do is alarm the doors since they are... you know... fire doors. I assume this wasn't done for usual greedy money reasons. Laundry is also very expensive.

nice staff but dodgy lifts are broken more often then not. for how much they charge you’d expect things not to break so often

No more than 2 lifts ever work at a time and the walls are infested with silverfish. One of the lifts have been broken since the end of November and still aren't working now none of the lifts are. Staff are nice though but it's really not worth the 7k a year. The printer doesn't even work now either

Reception team and staff are OK. The room and furniture are very good. However, the reason that I gave only 2 stars is the Noise!!! My room is a studio room which locates near the elevators and corridor doors connected to the en-suit rooms. In almost every night, between 12PM to 3AM, many student come back to their rooms and they usually shout and scream very loud especially on Friday and Saturday. They sometimes slam the wall, the corridor doors, and even my door heavily. I reported these problems to reception team but the answers are... "We are sorry", "It is very hard to catch them", bla bla bla. These answers are true because there is no CCTV in some areas of the corridor. IF YOU LOVE TO LIVE IN A PEACEFUL PLACE, DO NOT RENT HERE. You should rent a shared house or a shared apartment with your close friend. This is because many big accommodations for student in Portsmouth have the same problem about the noise. Rising sea levels is a major concern for me. I live on the 8th floor and my room has been flooded twice.
