Avoid!!! I have been a member of this union for a number of years ... and trustingly have been paying in by direct debit ... thinking they would be very diligent and speedy in rushing to my defence in an employment emergency! On the 19th September 2022 ... I contacted them on their website ... because I was accused of letting some toast burn in the hospital kitchen and then leaving the toast unattended ... I was advised that because the emergency services had been called out ... there would be an enquiry and I would be called in to give a Statement of the events and that it was a very serious matter! :' ( I dispute everything I was accused of ... mainly because when I left the kitchen there was nobody else to witness me leaving the kitchen and no security cameras or they would have seen me leaving long before smoke came through the kitchen door ... so I don't understand how they could say I was to blame ... I was brought into the Manager's office and questioned ... I have been informed that an Investigation is ongoing ... obviously I am very fearful, anxious and worried!!! It has now been 9 days since I contacted my union ... and I have heard nothing at all ... no phone calls ... not even an email saying they had received my message and they would be in touch soon!!! Meanwhile they have had the use of the money I have been paying in and i bet they have not been slow to spend that!!! 😡 so to sum up ... they are very good at sending people round the hospital restaurant to charm you into signing up with all sorts of lovely promises while you are just trying to eat your lunch ... but nowhere to be seen when you are distraught, really upset and in need of an immediate response and instant action on your behalf ... Not impressed!!!
