I would highly recommend Turner Swim. I had been thinking about improving my front crawl technique for some time, looking to improve my breathing technique and address some entrenched bad habits. After researching a range of different options I come across the Turner Swim ‘Head up breast stroke into front crawl’ course which seemed perfectly matched to what I needed. I booked an hour long taster lesson with Thomas to understand more with a view to booking onto the five-session course Thomas has been brilliant and within one hour I had learnt how to breathe properly underwater and had already vastly improved my technique. Thomas has a calm, methodical approach, celebrating your successes whilst also giving valuable critique and feedback to improve your practice. I was clearly able to see the gains that I’d made over the six weeks and my breathing, turns, stroke technique and efficiency have all improved considerably. Instead of it being a chore I now look forward to going swimming and building on what is have learnt. I highly recommend Thomas and the Head up breast stroke into front crawl course, it has been one of the best investments that I have made.

I tried to learn proper swimming technique before but haven't had great experiences. In contrast, I have done 10 lessons with Thomas (Tom) so far and it's been great. He was patient and always made sure to point out the improvements I had made, while giving constructive feedback on where I could improve. The lessons always felt like they were going at just the right pace so I felt challenged but not overwhelmed. I felt I was consistently getting better each session and now I feel confident in my front crawl and backstroke. Highly recommended!

I spent around 12 hours with Turner swim as a  complete newbie to swimming. The instructors are good and encouraging. However if, like me, you do not know how to swim and want to pick it up for fun - I would not recommend this course. The course is designed so that you must master every technique before moving on. Mastering techniques entails absolutely 100% nailing everything e.g. if your left hand is in slightly the wrong place while swimming on your back - that will be reason enough to stop you progressing on to the next section. Because of this, despite me doing 12 hours of lessons, Turner Swim only had me on their lesson "6 or 7", I.e. they recapped lessons multiple times. This is fine if the lessons are cheap, but they are not. Worse than that, they use floats for the majority of the learn to swim course so you build a complete dependency on them. They do this because they want you to focus on technique instead. If I was on a course where I was trying to master a stroke, or even be an intermediate swimmer, I would understand this rigour. But I am someone who doesn't know how to swim. Not allowing me to progress because of relatively minor technical issues is not, I believe, the best way to teach an adult (who has no prior swimming experience) how to swim. If you are an adult who wants to learn to swim for fun, I would not recommend this course. Find a cheaper, relaxed, more fun alternative. If you are an existing swimmer trying to master a technique, then maybe turner swim is for you.

Such a friendly and personable coach who completely broke down my dreadful breast stroke and rebuilt it piece by piece into something resembling actual swimming! Completely recommend if you want to build confidence in the water

I am a complete novice swimmer, and worked with Tom - I found him to be extremely professional, punctual, encouraging and over the course work on my areas that I need to focus on. Very happy with the lessons. If I was taking the course again, considering the level I got to at the end, I would have done 8-9 lessons.

I completed 10 lessons with Thomas right before Christmas to learn the front crawl, backstroke, treading water etc. He was a very patient and encouraging instructor and the lessons built up my confidence in the water. I've learnt both strokes now and have been very happy practicing them in my local pool over the Christmas break. Highly recommend lessons from Thomas to anyone new to swimming.

I would highly recommend turner swim. I did the learn to swim course with Thomas at Tower Bridge over the course of a month. I learnt the front crawl and backstroke. Thomas was a great instructor and made me feel at ease. I was apprehensive about taking lessons initially however I have really enjoyed the experience and will be booking some more to learn the breaststroke as well!

I have been trying regularly for over 10 years to improve my front crawl technique but never understood how others in the pool seem to swim so effortlessly and still pass by. Tom has taken apart and improved every part of my technique starting with breathing, stroke, kicking, etc. The change has been incredible I only wished I had done this 10 years ago! Thanks Tom and Turner Swim.
