  We usually stay at another budget hotel and this was the first time we decided to give travel lodge a try for a change as my family have used before and said it’s okay. The lady who checked us in on Friday evening was pleasant but I was annoyed that she asked the older couple in front of us whether they would like their room to the front or the back of building and then she didn’t give us the option, we would have preferred to be to the front.. The evening later staff that evening had a bad attitude and came across unprofessional.. the desk staff were I assume in the staff room as she was not on the desk and shouting at the door man, felt more like a youth club than a hotel, not a professional at all from the late staff. Immediately when entering the corridor to our floor, there was a STRONG odour of cigarettes, considering it’s a no smoking hotel it smelt like someone was smoking in their room for sure! Again not professional. We entered our room and yes it looked Okay, the bathroom was quite clean, however we would have a bath elsewhere so that was a minus to just have a shower for a premium room.. The room was simple, not really worth paying premium price for.. The biggest thing that affected our score was lifted the pillow on my side of the bed and the bedding was soiled!!!! Absolutely disgusting, looked like poo. Husband smelt it and said it stunk, I said no way I’m smelling that’s vile!! I didn’t sleep due to it this maybe 1 hr at the most.. as I had to sleep around a sheet covered in poo… yuck.. No AC meant the window had to be open but then I had to close because we had too much noise, not good for a premium cost. Wouldn’t use travel lodge again standards have put me well off!! Glad we didn’t bring our kids here!!! Will be staying at our usual Budget hotel brand next time. I would however like to thank the two AM desk staff members on the Saturday Morning though, they were very friendly and attentive with us, I’m not sure of their names it was two guys on desk around 9-10am ish on Saturday 20th May . Very helpful and with us so Thank you to them.

  What an awful place. The room itself is clean and big enough but oh my the noise from the trains are awful. I asked to change rooms but no other rooms available. I asked if the trains stopped and they assured me they did but the freight trains didnt. I wore ear plugs (which should be offered by the hotel) but didnt work and still felt the vibrations. I definitely would avoid - had quite a few bad experience of Travel Lodge recently - same in Tower Hill - perhaps need to try a new chain.

  You are paying for location and location only. We spent 700 pounds for 3 nights, but were denied room service. We were told we "weren't on the list" and how one gets on "the list" is mystery, rendering the "please top up" sign put on our door knob for housekeeping into tacky and obsolete decor. Broken glass and garbage covered the ground outside the entrance, my dog cut two of her feet badly. No green spaces for dogs to relieve themselves despite the dog-friendly policy. The room was uncleaned--carpet looked unvacuumed and the paint was peeling on two walls. On FOUR different occassions, my room key stopped working--even though I did not even carry my phone or wallet on my person to explain why they would go faulty over and over. On one occassion while I was waiting for new keys, I was roped into a 20 minute video recorded training session at front desk--greatly inconveniencing me and done without my consent. The place is frankly a dump, unsafe, and unclean. You are paying to be near the train/tube station and that's it.
