TPE from Edinburgh to Manchester airport 14th April 14:16: overcrowding beyond belief. TPE failed to respond for comment on the matter when asked their social media team.

Wish I’d of checked the reviews out before upgrading to first class, all you get for a rather large fee is a different colour seat and that’s it! And they were filthy, the drop-down trays in front of you were disgusting completely stained from previous journeys and there’s zero offer of refreshments which I thought were complimentary on first class tickets??? However the two train conductors were proper pigging out on a the spare table seats available!! Absolutely awful. (This was the Hull - Huddersfield train 11:03 on 5th April 2023)

Couldn’t give them a zero! How this company is still allowed to run this franchise is shocking. Today alone my train was cancelled and the next one was running 20 minutes late. Trains whilst modern and new, was filthy and the seats are so uncomfortable, had cramp for 20 minutes. Use your car, it’s more reliable

Very mixed experience: train was cancelled no notice; awful food offering; boiling hot carriage on outward journey.

Why do you cancel so many trains, even when there are no strikes? Awful service. Sort yourselves out!

The Trans Pennine Express (TPE) is very poorly run train company. My wife and i had first class tickets to go from Manchester to Glasgow on October 14, 2022. The train was canceled on our trip to the station. Fortunately, I was able to book tickets on another train to complete our journey almost on time. However, the process to get a refund for this canceled train has been excruciating. When contacted, TPE said that -- despite us purchasing the tickets on their website -- they had no responsibility for the refund. They referred us to Trainline -- another company. After several weeks of communicating with Trainline, we realized that RailEurope had sold us the tickets. I did not know that because i never got direct communication from RailEurope. RailEurope declined our refund request because this was now beyond 28 days. They did say that this 28 day limit was imposed by TPE and TPE could waive this limit. However, TPE denied this. I still have no refund and am taking this up with the UK Rail Ombudsman. It has been a very painful experience. I recommend that travelers do anything they can to avoid TPE -- fly, get a bus, ride a bike or even walk.
