Why work for a charity if you don’t want business? I’m a huge fan of Traid, Fara, Octavia, etc. I buy all my clothes from them. Just went into the Camden location at 6:47 giving me 10 minutes to shop. They had a time clock on me. Every 2 minutes they’d say “9 minutes til we close”… 4 minutes til we close” and so forth. When I went to finally check out, they didn’t offer me a bag which is what the norm is at these shops. Some of them often have them for free but it’s ok if they don’t. Instead of politely telling me “it’s £1” they said “it’s not the U.S, they’re not free”. Nothing but rude women ……. Super upset by this. It doesn’t take long to close a retail store, especially a charitable one. I probably would have spent more money too if they didn’t keep disrupting my shopping to tell me how many minutes til closing. For the record I am American but I’ve lived in the UK since 2017, so I’m well aware this isn’t the U.S…. Don’t work for a good cause if you’re a c*nt!!!

I agree with other reviewers, this 'charity' shop is way too expensive. They probably want to sell stuff to tourists, who are also happy to pay way too much for vintage clothing in Camden Town.

They have a decent stock and it’s good for finding more unique items, their stuff is more curated. But they are RIDICULOUSLY overpriced. Reselling used fast fashion items for 2-3x the price when new? This dress definitely didn’t cost more than £4 from shein, so I struggle to see how they can sell it for £11. I’ve seen clothes that I literally already own on sale for more than what I bought them for.

Traid have always taken advantage of their charitable status with the prices they charge but given their sales, you can forgive them to a degree. That being said, I visited this particular store today and the prices were bordering on the obscene. £30 for a pair of Levi’s you can get on eBay for less than a 10er on in numerous other charity shops for £15 max, a Diesel hoodie that was selling in TK Maxx recently for £36, a Carhartt shirt for £40. I mean what is that all about? All of these clothes are donations, they weren’t donated to Traid for them make a killing off of. Charities are supposed to be charitable - the clue is in the name! If Traid are opting to be a vintage clothing store, then they need to be more transparent about that. Simply donating money to certain causes doesn’t make you a "charity" and right now they are making a mockery of the word - especially considering they obtained these clothes for *free*.
