The worst people you can ever encounter - extremely poor work ethic, incredibly incompetent, shockingly disrespectful. It's amazing to experience the failure of a public instution to this level... I hope deep down you know and realise the impact you unfortunately have on people who don't have a choice but to have to work and interact with you. Probably the worse borough of the entire UK

The only bad thing about East London is our utterly appalling council, and its rotting spawn of a subsidiary, Tower Hamlets Homes. Need a repair done? Strap in and prepare to wait for months, as their incompetent staff fail you at every point in the process.

They do not care about mental or physical health needs of people within the community. Apathetic, unprofessional and lazy staff. It makes me angry that most of these reviews are really bad and the worst part is there is the highest chance in heaven that they are true. I was born and raised in this borough, volunteered my time to give back to the community over the years. I have never expected to be handed everything and we’ll aware of the housing crisis, all I ever asked was for them to help me find a property that is properly licensed and approved by the council within the private rented sector. I am now very ill due to the stress of living in the unlicensed HMO I’ve been residing in. I cannot work anymore and I can’t do things on my own. If the council had helped earlier, I would not be in this position and still be able to work, now they will tell me I should just move somewhere cheaper so I can be out of their way. I will not allow this. One of the workers had the nerve to tell me not to let this get to me mentally, like I haven’t lost everything. Another worker who was actually my caseworker a couple of years back asked me not to bother him again when I asked for help. To top it off, I’ve been paying rent to people that illegally tossed my belongings outside and forced me to change the locks. (because I reported them and refused to leave without an valid notice) I had to pay £200 out of my own pocket and I’m still paying rent. The landlord and agents occupying the property are criminals and the council are well aware of this. Who do you think advised me to cripple myself financially like this? TOWER HAMLETS COUNCIL. They do not show authority but have the audacity to call themselves one. The mayor of this borough should be hanging his head in shame, no integrity and no dignity. I hope everyone had their chance to get justice for themselves because this is beyond deplorable. I will be pursuing this and making sure everyone knows how corrupt things have become. I hope they read these reviews, every single one of them. I want them to question their moral compass if they have any. Maybe others will eventually move on and let them get away with this, but I will not. When you have lost everything with barely anything left to lose, you have all the time in the world.

Make you wait for hours on the phone just to end the call. Bad management hence bad service. General enquiries office needs to be investigated and phone calls listened to.

Tower Hamlets Homes are a disgrace.Just waste millions of public money every year.Overstaffed, especially caretakers.Barely have one hours work a day because there are so many of them, and can't even be bothered to do that.Just sit in their accommodation for hours till they disappear home early afternoon.Paid to work from 8 to 4,reality is ,finished by 10,over 2 hour lunch break,do their banking, shopping in work time, then home. Can't even spare 2 mins to empty a bin.Abysmal service.

If I had a change I would rate them 0 I have experienced the worse time with mears and council. I had damp and mould in my bedroom which took them 2 months to complete. Within this 2 months they messed me around so many times missed appointments not going back and updating system with progress of what step needs doing next.Rude and arrogant workers. Lack of communication and it takes them weeks before they give you an appointment and when they do not attend. I have been disgusted with the job and I have written emails back and fourth were they say sorry and someone will contact me however they even failed that. DISGUSTING never recommend mears and tower hamlets.
