As a marshall I found the competitors very friendly and welcoming as we're the staff. The one thing that spoiled the event was a late payment and the lake fo communication around this. Payment was four days late after a number of unresponsive emails. I was looking forward the some other up and coming events however due to my experience I will not be working for tough runner again. Thus is a shame as I really enjoyed the event.

Had a busy and fun morning helping Adam and the team by volunteering at the Edinburgh Duathlon on Sunday 5th March. Volunteers were well looked after by the friendly team and it was fun to see an event from the other side of the fence. We have completed two Tough Runner events - the Falkirk 10k in January and the Falkirk 1/2 marathon in November. Both were well organised and interesting courses so we felt due to repay the favour by volunteering. As a result we've been rewarded with a free Tough Runner race entry and are going to give the Drumlanrig 1/2 marathon a go in June.

Tough runner lives up to its name on this course and didn't disappoint. For anyone looking for a hard going trail run taking you through mud, streams and rough farm terrain then this is for you. The highlight was the hills and views provided. The steep inclines are enough to challenge even the most experienced of runners. I'd sum this trail up with 'what goes up, must go up and up again'.
