    Property was clean when moving in, but garden was not maintained at all during the period it was up for rent. The garden was in an awful state when we moved in, the well kept lawn in the property images on the letting website was gone and in its place was a mess of overgrown grass and almost knee height weeds. We were told as tenants it was our responsibility to maintain the garden so we needed to fix it ourselves. The weeds became so out of control it has killed off huge patches of our lawn. The garden fence has large holes and rotting panels in with rusty nails sticking out and falling into our garden. The neighbours dog can stick his snout through and this is very dangerous as our dog is very nervous around other dogs. We were told this was an aesthetic issue and until we could prove the other dog could get into our garden they wouldn't do anything. Our tenancy agreement clearly specifies we cannot make significant repairs to the property ourselves and when we raised this, they couldn't tell us if we were allowed to sort this issue ourselves. We have sustained multiple injuries from rusty nails in our garden and sticking out of our fence and our dog is at risk of picking up any nails in the garden we dont get to. We pay additional fees to have pets in the property but the property management team do not take any responsibility to keep the property safe for pets. A toilet on the property has now become blocked and the emergency repair line told us to google how to isolate the water supply to the toilet to stop it overflowing. Very poor customer service and very clear that they are not interested in fixing issues.

    After cleaning and leaving our appartment, when the lady from the office collected the keys she looked through the appartment and said everything was fine. However, soon we recieved an email stating that our 1050 pound deposit will be taken because the appartment was dirty and there were a bunch of extra charges (50 pound for a single light bulb, 150 pound for the "removal" of a few empty plastic bags and small items that were there upon us entering the appartment and much more). Fully recommend avoiding Touchstone properties unless you want to lose all of your deposit regardless of your actions and wait months for the simplest of repairs that are needed in the property.
