In 2019 November i had my first appointment where the lovely orthodontists discussed my options for me with the given x-ray they did of my teeth. They explained to me what a twin block brace was and talked to me about how to maintain it this made it not as frightening that i thought! I went a few weeks later for my fitting of my twin block which the orthodontists explained to me and my mum about the brace and how long i needed to wear it for, after leaving the appointment i followed each step that they instructed me to do which resulted in me not having to have the brace on for another year. For each appointment they slightly tightened it and then how to expand my twin block brace. Although this part was a bit painful it is worth it in the end! I then had my next appointment where i didn’t have a twin block brace on anymore and was waiting for my metal fixed braces to be fitted in February 2022 were i wore it for exactly a year and finally had my braces off in February 2023. I had my top brace removed first as i was unsure if there was a gap on my bottom teeth however after speaking to the head orthodontist she explained that it was not a gap and it was my natural teeth shape. I am currently wearing my top and bottom retainer and i am soon going to be only wearing my top retainer at night. I am very thankful for all of the orthodontists help and support all throughout my journey with my braces and i am very happy with my new straight teeth.
