We had delicious, very authentic bratwurst. Sunny courtyard. Dogs welcome. A little expensive but Bakewell is a tourist hotspot.

Delicious sausages. Bratwurst was ein Meisterwerk. The place has great atmosphere and a very friendly staff. There is interesting interior with a collection of cuckoo clocks. They also serve Bakewell pudding and good coffee there.

Snap lunchtime decision with dogs in tow saw us dive into the cramped courtyard that makes up the sit-in dining area of the store. We struggled to get our pushchair in but or dogs helped by barking loudly and tying themselves up on their leads. (Sorry everyone else). Food service was really quick, lots of sausage options but I won’t be taking my vegetarian friends as their choices for the meat free among us, were there, but limited…..although why you’d be visiting a sausage importer for lunch if you were a vegetarian may be a pertinent question, so maybe that’s not too much of an issue. I opted for the knockwurst and it was the biggest sausage in a bun I’ve ever eaten. Super tasty though but I feel like my kids probably need therapy now having seen me unhinge my jaw to make it fit but it was worth it. It was essentially a hot dog though and I’d argue it’s difficult to get hot dogs wrong really, but therein lies the rub, it was quite an expensive hot dog for what you get, especially knowing one can get the equivalent for £1.50 in a well known wholesale megastore but then again, until they move into Bakewell, I reckon Tiroler Stuberl probably has the market cornered. Kids ate almost everything which always a good sign so will likely be visiting again but must point out that it’s going to be tricky for anyone with a physical disability. Space is super tight for wheelchairs and the toilet is not really disabled friendly at all which is a bit of a shame, so fair warning. Would love to see take out be an option as it’s definitely the kind of thing you could eat on the go and am looking forward to letting my work colleagues know I visited a sausage importer for the first time ever over the weekend.
