I paid £120 for a damp survey of my property. I was given a suggested series of works, for which they quoted £10k. I then checked with a number of damp proof companies, none of whom recommended anywhere near as much work as being necessary. According to one specialist who visited, only a single minor DIY job was necessary to prevent any damp in the near future. This company seems, from my experience, to be exactly what people worry about when getting quotes from tradespeople.
