Although some staff members were not to private school standard, most were very good teachers who were not only supportive but also respectful. I really like the schools ethos and attitude towards learning. They also provide amazing opportunities that have changed my life for the better. I will miss my time here and am highly disappointed that my time here was cut off short. (Due to COVID-19)

FURTHER READING/COMPREHENSION EXERCISE: It is with sheer incredulity that I view the current rating for I am unable, unequivocally, to reconcile it with my experience, not so long ago. Rating 5 [or above] I, wholeheartedly, recommend this centre of educational excellence to other practitioners, parents and, of course, the young people who are or become the heart of the institution (an officially listed top 100 independent). From initial interview to final goodbyes, my brief Term of office was a highlight of my professional life: it's 5 [or above] :-) Questions: 1) What does the educational award-winning author recommend - based on his hands on classroom experience? 2) Name the groups of people the recommendation is aimed at. 3) Can you discern the inferred rating figure? 4) Can you spot the metaphor in this reading? 5) What seems odd about both overall and review ratings (clue: hyperbole). Self-proof read your answers for SPAG. How might you have done? Posted by Neil Anthony Hodder (Visiting Teacher of Art & Design, English & Media Studies ) Comprehension answers:1 Thorpe Hall School 2 Teachers, Parents & Children (any order) 3 No ceiling/ review rating 4 young people - become the heart (I'll also accept centre - excellence) 5 Exaggerated or (perhaps) invalid or distorted evaluations. Time to tally up!!
