The legendary preeminent Late Georgian and Victorian designer, developer and master-builder whose squares, crescents and terraces still grace tracts of London. Immensely influential. His entrepreneurial flair, organisational skills and innovations set the framework, tone and template for subsequent projects. A dapper Cubitt confident and comfortable on a makeshift pile of balusters surveys his domain. Makes for a worthy diversion if nearabouts.

This statue stands in tribute to Thomas Cubitt, a builder and engineer responsible for much of the development and buildings in Belgravia centred around Belgrave Square and Pimlico. His legacy included the east front of Buckingham Palace and personally funding the development of nearly a kilometre of the Thames Embankment. The sculpture depicts Cubitt standing on a raised platform behind a partially uncovered stack of assorted bricks, with a brick measure in his left hand. A great memorial to a great engineer
